Background
This key health sector organisation has a site redevelopment programme underway in Auckland, and needs a seasoned client side Project Manager to manage the execution of the upgrade work.
There are varied projects to oversee during construction and fit-out stages with an initial two projects to commence and complete by 30 June 2026. Whilst the projects are not complex the operating environment is – projects are a risk to operational and GMP spaces which cannot be compromised as they will be operating at the same time as the upgrade works as well as after hours.
Contract Need
With the pipeline of planned work a client side Project Manager is needed for two years on a fixed term contract basis. Monitoring the site and project schedule, you will manage contractors and trades to observe progress, quality of work, and adherence to issued plans and agreed quality standards. You will identify potential problems or deviations from issued plans early in the construction and fit-out process, ensuring variations are escalated and approved in a timely manner.
You will lead the client project team with onsite contractor coordination ensuring that everything is completed to schedule and specific requirements (including compliance with New Zealand Code of GMP). You will also have responsibility for project administration including change control plans for formal approvals for works and control of variations.
You will engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders including construction and trade contractors and will ensure that health and safety protocols and compliance are always adhered to.
Experience sought
You will be a "good all-rounder" with practical hands-on client side construction or trades project management experience, preferably including the delivery of healthcare related projects or in other complex regulated environments such as the pharmaceutical or dietary supplements sectors.
You will have a strong understanding of New Zealand building regulations and legislation, knowledge of building management systems, proven contracts and contractor management experience, hold relevant tertiary and/or trade and project management qualifications and be proficient in MS Office with MS Project expertise.
Please note that due to the operating environment some project works will need to be done outside of normal business hours and therefore this is primarily a Sunday to Thursday working week with a daily late start and finish envisaged.
